Goji juice is juice from the goji fruit or berry and is more and more accepted as having a great health potential. You can buy this elixir in health food stores as well as online. However, watch out for more scams! There a many of them out there.

When we say "goji juice scam" we normally mean one out of two very different scams. One of these would relate to the quality of the advertised goji juice. Let's say that an advertisement did not mention Himalayan goji berries. This could be seen as a goji juice scam as only the Himalayan berries have a nutritional profile that includes close to one dozen different ingredients.

While there is at least one goji juice scam that deprives consumers of a good quality goji juice, there is yet a second, no less dangerous form for this kind of scam. The second goji scam concerns the nature of information regarding one mineral in the goji juice. The second scam leaves out all of the available information about a mineral called selenium.

Selenium is a mineral that can act to lower a man's risk of prostate cancer can be added to the diet by drinking goji juice. Selenium has the great ability to slow or prevent the occurrence of cancer. Researchers have linked selenium's cancer-fighting abilities to the action of certain enzymes. This mineral aids the production of those enzymes, thus giving it the capacity to ward-off cancer risks. At the present time studies have shown that a daily intake of at least 70 micrograms of selenium should be the goal of all who wish to remain free of cancer

Now the offering of such information on the selenium mineral should not be seen as a goji juice scam. If, however, the imparter of that information tried to encourage people to a daily intake of more than 70 micrograms of selenium, then that could be seen as a goji juice scam. That is because it is possible for a person to eat too much of this mineral.

If one were to eat a quantity far above 100 micrograms each day, then that excess amount of selenium could cause nausea, bad breath, rash, dizziness, weakness and cold symptoms. Further, consuming more than 60 micrograms of selenium per day is bad for pregnant women because a high intake of selenium has in several studies appeared to be linked to birth complications.

A man who wants to avoid prostate cancer - and who doesn't - needs a slightly different diet than a woman who is carrying a child. That fact ought to be included in any serious literature about selenium. This should also be mentioned in an advertisement for goji juice or on its packaging as the failure to highlight that fact might be seen as a goji juice scam.

Avoid Fast Food - Here's How

When you're on the way home from work or school and you know you don't have anything planned for dinner, the easiest thing to do is to stop at a fast food drive through and pick up dinner. You feel guilty because you're spending money and not eating well, but what other choice do you have? I'm going to help you through some simple steps that will help you avoid that stop at the fast food restaurant.

When you have a home cooked meal prepared or at least have the ingredients ready for a home cooked meal you will be much less likely to choose a less than desirable alternative.

1. Make a list of 12-15 meals you can fix when you make out your grocery list. Then buy the items you need to make those meals.

2. Educate yourself either through books, radio or television on the ingredients in fast food. The ingredient contained in most fast food that you want to avoid is MSG (monosodium glutamate). It is a flavor enhancer, but it's also an appetite and nervous system stimulant. That's why the food tastes so good, but it's also why you're hungry an hour later. Most people have a hard enough time keeping their weight down. They don't need to be fed and appetite stimulant to make the problem even worse.

3. Use the time you're already in the kitchen to make some extra of the meal you're cooking. Then put the extra meals in the freezer to have on hand when you want to be able to just put a prepared meal in the oven.

4. If you have children, have them watch the food shows that are on TV with you and inspire them to help you choose and prepare meals.

Sometimes it takes longer to wait in line at a fast food restaurant than it takes to be at home with dinner baking in the oven. Think about how you can take just a few minutes every couple of weeks to plan some good healthy meals that will be better for everyone. Who knows you might even feel better and lose a few pounds.

You`ve decided to start bodybuilding but all of these new terms seem to be in a different language. Most of us experienced bodybuilders have felt the same way at one time, so don`t give up just yet. You train hard, but you don`t know anything about proper nutrition. Getting enough protein is the most important when trying to get a good body. I am going to explain the different types of protein, what protein does for your body, and problems associated with not getting enough.

When consumed, protein turns into amino acids which become the cornerstone of muscle gain. Protein also helps you achieve muscle gain while keeping fat to a minimum. You need to space out your meals five to seven times a day to keep your metabolism at its best. Eating more meals also keeps your body in an anabolic state (meaning your body is building muscle). To keep from getting board with your diet, your meals should never be from the same protein source at back-to-back meals.

Lean proteins that are low in fat should be eaten throught the day. Good protein sources to eat throughout day include egg whites, chicken breasts, tuna, and lean steak. There are many other good sources of lean protein but those examples will give you an idea of what to eat. The obesity epidemic would be lower if people simply started eating more protein. It doesn`t matter if you weight train or not, not getting enough will cause many health problems. A loss of muscle tissue is the main problem but don`t expect to lose any fat either. Instead, fat gain will occur because of increased cortisol levels that are associated with lack of protein. Your immune system will start deteriorating, all of your body`s cells will become weak and you will be more susceptible to illness.

Protein is important and should be at the top of everyones grocery list. If you are serious about achieving your bodybuilding or fitness goals then you will do whatever it takes to achieve them. Placing an entire head of garlic (with the top cut off) in a roaster and drizzling it with olive oil, salt and pepper, and baking for about one hour will yield a delicious, soft head of garlic. Individual garlic cloves can be squeezed out of the head and spread directly on a cracker or a piece of bread for a delicious treat.

Garlic Slicers

It�s very difficult to cut garlic into very thin pieces using a knife, and it takes a lot of practice and experience to slice garlic in an efficient manner. So, if a large number of garlic slices is needed for a recipe, a garlic slicer can come in very handy. Garlic slicers ensure that pieces of garlic are uniform in shape and thickness, and they are as easy to use as cheese graters!

Garlic Keepers

Most people come home from the grocery store with a bag full of garlic heads and throw them in the refrigerator. This, however, is not a recommended place to store garlic. In fact, garlic should not be stored on a kitchen counter either since direct sunlight is not good for it. Garlic keepers can be cute accessories to add to any kitchen, as they come in many styles. Storing heads of garlic in a garlic keeper allows the garlic to remain in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.

Garlic Press

Simply chopping a clove of garlic into a million pieces with a knife and a chopping board does not produce the same effect as a piece of garlic that has been put through a garlic press. A garlic press is a tool that squeezes the garlic and presses it into tiny pieces. Some recipes call specifically for pressed garlic, and there is really no way to obtain pressed garlic without using this specific tool.

There are numerous other garlic tools and gadgets available, and most are very inexpensive. The best way to determine what is needed in a specific kitchen is to evaluate the daily, weekly and/or monthly garlic consumption in a household, and judge what tools would make preparing the garlic easier for the cook.
